Cancellation Policy

This Cancellation Policy describes the general rules that apply when a client cancels or changes a booking made with Choquequirao Expeditions.

Specific tours (for example, treks with limited permits or tickets) may be subject to stricter conditions, which will be communicated in the detailed itinerary and booking confirmation.

1. Cancellations by the client

All cancellation requests must be sent in writing (by email or contact form) and are only effective once confirmed in writing by the Company.

In general, deposits paid to secure permits, tickets, or accommodation are non‑refundable, as these costs are often non‑refundable on our side with local providers.

Any refundable portion of the total payment will depend on how far in advance the cancellation is made and on the policies of each service provider involved (such as trains, hotels, or entrance tickets).

2. Changes and rescheduling

Requests to change travel dates, routes, or passenger names are subject to availability, possible change fees, and any additional costs charged by local providers.

Some services, such as certain national park permits or specific train tickets, may not allow changes once issued, in which case new services may need to be purchased at the Client’s expense.

3. No‑show and late arrival

If a client does not appear at the agreed meeting point and time on the day of departure (no‑show), or arrives too late to join the tour, the payment is generally non‑refundable.

In such cases, the Company is not obligated to provide alternative services or new dates, although it may offer assistance to rebook at additional cost when possible.

4. Cancellations or changes by the company

The Company reserves the right to cancel or modify a tour when unavoidable circumstances arise, such as strikes, extreme weather, natural events, government decisions, or safety concerns.

In these situations, we will inform clients as soon as reasonably possible and will offer alternative dates, similar services, or, where appropriate, a refund of the portion paid to the Company that can be recovered from providers, in accordance with their own policies.

5. Travel insurance

Given the strict conditions that may apply to trekking permits, train tickets, and other services in Cusco and Machu Picchu, we strongly recommend that all clients purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellations, trip interruptions, and force majeure events.
